Named GP for all registered patients

All GP practices are required to inform their patients (including children) of their named accountable GP. This is part of the GMS contract change for 2015 – 2016 that was agreed between the BMA’s General Practitioners Committee and NHS Employers.

The named GP will take lead responsibility for the coordination of all services required under the contract and ensure they are delivered to each of their patients where required.

Every patient at this practice has been assigned to one of the GP Partners, however this assignment in no way effects your choice of the GP that you may wish to see, or that may be available on the day you require treatment.

It is important to be clear that you do not need to wait and see or speak to your named GP.

Practices are asked to inform patients of their named GP at the first available interaction, so the GP or Nurse may advise you at your next appointment.
