Is the problem life threatening or a medical emergency?
If so call 999 for an ambulance.
Is the problem urgent?
If the problem is urgent and you feel you may need to see a healthcare professional call the Out of Hours Service on:0300 123 1851. You will speak to a healthcare professional who will assess whether you need to:
- Treat yourself at home
- Go to a Primary Care Centre
- Have a home visit from a healthcare professional
Do you need help and advice?
If you are not sure how urgent the problem is and feel you need expert help and advice call NHS Direct on 08 45 46 47. Trained staff will be able to advise you on how to treat yourself at home or refer you to the appropriate service. NHS Direct is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is staffed by qualified health professionals.
There is now an additional facility for Minor Ailments and Injuries within the North Ormesby Health Village, which is open from 8:00am - 8:00pm 7 days per week. You can simply 'walk in' here or telephone beforehand: 0330 123 9501.
NHS Direct
In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call
NHS Direct (0845 4647) to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.
Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
