FAMILY PLANNING
All the doctors in the practice will provide full information about various methods of family planning currently available.
CERVICAL SMEAR TESTS
Smears are carried out by our nurses and should be done every three years. Ask for an appointment.
MENOPAUSAL ADVICE & MEDICATION
This is available through the Well Woman Clinic. 
MATERNITY
Doctor's Basson, Smith & Lau offer maternity care in co-operation with the maternity hospital (usually James Cook University Hospital ) Your visits to the surgery will normally be shared between your doctor and the midwife.
MINOR SURGERY
We are able to offer a wide range of minor surgery, avoiding the need for hospital visits.
VASECTOMY
We are able to offer vasectomy procedures under local anaesthetic for both NHS & private patients.

HEALTH PROMOTION CLINICS
A wide range of health promotion clinics are held at the surgery. Most clinics are carried out by our fully trained practice nurses according to the protocols agreed with the doctors. A doctor is readily available for advice required during the clinics. Some clinics are held by a doctor alone or with the nurse. Appointments for the clinics may be arranged by the patient directly or through the doctor or practice nurse. Most clinics are held at particular times. However, if these are unsuitable, alternative appointments maybe offered.
WELL WOMAN CLINIC
A clinic for women dealing with all aspects of female health and providing free advice and check-ups for good health. Check-ups may include blood pressure, urine testing, height, weight and cervical smear. Immunisation e.g., tetanus is also offered.
WELL MAN CLINIC
A clinic for men dealing with all aspects of male health and providing free advice and check-ups for good health. Check-ups may include blood pressure, urine testing, height and weight. Immunisation e.g., tetanus is also offered.
DIABETIC CLINIC
A clinic for all diabetic patients. Advice is offered on all aspects of diabetes and important checks made. We strongly advise all diabetic patients to attend this clinic regularly.
ASTHMA CLINIC
A clinic for patients who have asthma. Advice is offered and checks are made to help patients to achieve good control of their asthma.
HEALTHY HEART CLINIC
An opportunity for advising patients about minimising their risks of suffering from heart disease. We specially advise patients who have existing heart disease or a family history of heart disease, patients who have hypertension or diabetes and patients who smoke or are obese, to attend this clinic.
ANTI-SMOKING CLINIC
Patients can get advice and support to help them stop smoking. This is done on an individual basis.
COUNSELLING CLINIC
We hold a counseling clinic. Please discuss this with your doctor.
A Bereavement Counsellor is also available for help recently bereaved patients.
PHYSIOTHERAPY
Is available at the discretion of your doctor, or if you are certain your problem requires a Physiotherapist, you can make an appointment via our reception team.
DIETETICS
Is available at the discretion of your doctor and practice nurse.
CHIROPODY
This is available from referral through the practice nurse and GP.
CHILD HEALTH SURVEILLANCE
Development checks are carried out for children under 5 years by the doctor or health visitor at various stages. The parent/guardian must register the child for this service. Registration forms are available from reception.
MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS
We carry out medical examinations e.g., pre-employment, HGV licence and insurance. Patients are advised to check the fees for these medicals when requesting them.
PATIENTS AGED 75 YEARS AND OVER
Annual assessments are offered to patients aged 75 and over. This can be carried out either in the surgery or at home. Please speak to a doctor or nurse about this.
